On April 19, 2002 in an late night storm, the familiar tower at North 75 Highway and Lower Silver Lake Road collapsed.  This tower was owned by Solid States Sonics and Electronics.  It was the home of the WA0VRS repeater as well as the three W0CET repeaters on 145.450, 145.27 and 442.225.  Through countless hours of maintenance and dedication, these repeaters earned the distinction of being among the best in the country for coverage and superior quality.  For many years, these repeaters enjoyed the luxury of free tower space.   We have formed the Topeka Repeater Pool through the Kaw Valley Amateur Radio Club to return these repeaters to the air and restore them to work as well or better than they did.  Unfortunately, this is expensive to do and to maintain them.  If you would like to support this effort, please contact the club at KVARC@KVARC.ORG and I'll get an address for you to send the donation to.
